Herbal bliss balls

Bliss balls are a great way of sneaking any neutral tasting herbal powders into the diet. I prefer my recipe to other herbal bliss ball recipes out there as they typically only contain a token amount of herbs, while this recipe incorporates the maximum amount of herbs possible while still maintaining taste and texture! Plus mine are a good source of protein and fats, with not a huge amount of sugar, so that they support blood sugar balance. You can add a scoop of unflavoured collagen powder in with the powders to further boost the protein content.

This recipe features Ashwagandha and Shatavari which are a nice combination for nervous system and hormonal support - I have taste-tested it so that they taste good despite the addition of Ashwagandha which doesn’t taste good on its own! For more of an immune boosting focus, I substitute the powders with ½ cup Astragalus powder instead and have that on rotation regularly - I have received rave reviews!

Emma’s Adaptogenic Bliss Balls

(Makes roughly 30 balls)

  • ¼ cup Ashwagandha powder

  • ¼ cup Shatavari powder

  • ¼ cup cacao powder

  • ¾ cup shredded coconut

  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder

  • Sprinkle of salt

  • 1 cup any nut/seed butter

  • 1/3 cup honey

Mix the powders and coconut together.

Mix the nut butter and honey together until creamy – gently warm them over low heat if needed.

Add half of the powder mixture and stir in until it is incorporated. Add more powder and mix, repeating until the mixture is soft and doughy – thick enough to make into balls, not dry and crumbly. If necessary, add more nut butters or powders until you get your desired consistency.

Form about a tablespoon of the dough into a ball. Roll the balls in leftover cacao powder or coconut.

These balls can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
