About
Emma Hickey
Naturopath and
Holistic Nutritionist
BHSc (Nat), CNP (Hons), BEd (Prim)
I began my training in the health field by studying holistic nutrition while living in Canada, after which I returned home to Australia to complete 4 years of further study to graduate as a naturopath. I am constantly developing my professional knowledge through research and continued education.
I love using my prior experience as a teacher and coach to educate the community about how to use naturopathic modalities to improve health and wellbeing at any age. More specifically, I am especially passionate about:
enhancing energy levels and supporting the thyroid gland
supporting brain health and preserving cognitive function
preventing chronic disease and living in accordance with our biology.
Alongside my journey into the health field, I spent six years working as a primary school teacher and one year as an educational assistant (EA/SLSO). This gave me an enormous amount of experience, working with thousands of children during that time. While some of those children were happy and thriving at school, most were not. As time went on, it became obvious that so many of them were grappling with challenges in cognition, attention, organisation, behaviour, communication, social skills and mood. As a teacher, I felt that my hands were tied to an extent; I did my best but I knew that these kids needed support of other kinds. I am thrilled to now be utilising my understanding of the benefits of targeted nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle interventions to assist these kids 1-on-1 so that they can indeed thrive - not just in school, but in all areas of life.
